Hey guys great news... The editing is done!
This is insanely good news because for me and Matias we thought this would be the hardest part of the project. But now that we are finished, we can go back and laugh about it with all the struggles that we went through.
The first is timing the chosen song, which had strong beats with what was happening in the opening. So, as I mentioned before the song would only take place in the training part of the opening, and we thought maybe timing the strong beats of the song with events that are on screen would make the project look and feel a lot better, but the truth is that this was easier said than done. We had to re-film some of the shots just to make this happen. Ultimately, we are very proud of how this worked out for us even though it took a lot of time.
Then there were many problems with the sound and inserting it into the scene of bullying. This scene is the only scene that has dialogue, so we used a microphone to make it sound better than if all the audio came from the phone we filmed on. Getting the audio just took an extra step and made the process a little more tedious when we had to put the dialogue into the scene.
Lastly, the easiest thing was using techniques such as shot/ counter shot to sow dialogue in the bullying scene. This was the only scene we needed it for because the rest of the opening really just focused on the main character Jake. This scene was really important to the opening because we would've liked to show in the entire movie that the bullies would try to become friends with Jake after he became famous. This technique showed Jake responding to the bullies not with words but by showing how he was feeling at the moment that he would get bullied. Also, because we used this technique so well the audience would kind of feel more sympathy for Jake now that his emotions were shown more clearly.
It was a hard process, but we managed to get through it, and we came out alive on the other side. I will update you guys on the CCR soon but for now peace out.
